Bill Reddick is self taught in ceramics. His passion for, and ongoing development of his porcelain work have led him to many exciting discoveries of techniques for forming, glazing and firing. His unique combinations of classical glazes and strong color sense bring a contemporary feel to work which is strongly rooted in ancient traditions and methods.
Bill's work is inspired by the enormous ceramic legacy of China's Song Dynasty. "I visited the Royal Ontario Museum's collection of ancient ceramics in 1996 and encountered a small celadon vase. Almost 1000 years after its creation the potency of this beautiful and dignified vase was undiminished as it reached out to me across a millennium. My work in porcelain is informed by this experience as I try to create beautiful objects which resonate in a similar way, with a quiet yet willful presence."
