John works in sterling silver and vermeil (sterling overlaid with 24K gold). He creates surface texture by heating the metal to its flow point, then letting it cool and settle. This process of “reticulation” creates little hills and valleys in the metal.
John has been designing jewelry since 1979, having studied under Ed Levin. In 2001, John opened his own studio after 12 years of managing the noted jewelry store, Shreve, Crump and Low.
